Following on from the news of the Queens of the Stone Age debut album reissue, Domino's exciting relationship with Rekords Rekords continues with the announcement of the release of Spark, the mesmerising debut album by Alain Johannes which is due out on May 23rd.

For those of you not in the know, Alain is something of an underground legend having collaborated with everyone from Queens of the Stone Age, to Chris Cornell to Them Crooked Vultures to Mark Lanegan which is obviously a pretty incredible creative resume to have by anyones standards. Spark is the distillation of his talents as a songwriter, producer and composer which also functions on an extremely deep level as an effecting tribute to his late wife and creative partner Natasha Shneider.

Rekords Rekords founder Josh Homme comments, "Alain's record is the total embodiment of what the label stands for – the war against endorsing mediocrity and the uncensored attempt to take a leap off the musical cliff. Spark is a stunning examination of figuring out what you do when someone's gone, and it's utterly breathtaking." Given one listen it would be difficult to dispute what Josh is saying. Check out this breathtaking footage of Alain performing on a boat in Norway, filmed by Josh himself:

Spark will be available on CD (REK003CD), LP (REK003LP) and via digital download (REK003D). The tracklisting is as follows:
